Maintenance Worker Supervisor (Roads and Trails)

Provides direction and leadership to subordinate staff in the accomplishment of all daily work flow of assigned activities. This includes scheduled maintenance, preventative maintenance and unscheduled repairs for all applicable roads and trails, and associated assets, including culverts, storm drains and channels, parking lots, fencing, gates, campground areas and others. Responsible for the planning and scheduling of cyclic, repair/rehabilitation and construction projects related to these assets. Projects may include bridge repair or replacement, trail maintenance or construction, retaining walls, drains, flood and debris mitigation, among others. Utilizes skill in balancing different visitor services priorities with other competing interests. Plans and schedules works to meet operational needs in.accordance with regulatory requirements, and to perform preventative maintenance on equipment and systems. Assists the Facility Manager in developing the annual work plan and budget relative to the Roads and Trails Unit to accomplish park goals and objectives. Plans the use of workers, equipment, facilities, material and tools on a day-today or project-by-project basis, as well as a week-to-week and month-to-month basis. Establishes deadlines, priorities, work sequences, and plans work assignments, project schedules, resources and work plans based on work schedules, methods set by Chief of Facility Management and NPS policy. Redirects individual works and resources to accomplish unanticipated work. Adjusts work assignments and uses overtime, equipment, and materials to meet schedules. Coordinates work with supporting or related work functions controlled by other supervisors. Determines the numbers and types of workers needed to accomplish specific projects and operational requirements. Participates with superiors in the initial planning of current and future work schedules, budget request, staffing needs, estimates, and recommendations as to scheduling projected work. Uses Project Management Information System (PMIS) to assist management in the development of annual-and long range work plans such as Cyclic, Cultural Cyclic, Repair/Rehab, Recreation Fee, and Concession Franchise Fee and Line-Item Construction Projects. Incumbent serves as field technical contact for planning and solving difficult and unusual problems associated with construction and maintenance operations, resource management issues, park safety and storm preparation procedures. Must be able to evaluate and critique design, construction and alteration projects from the stand point of maintainability of facilities. Coordinates work activities with other park supervisors, federal and state agencies, and non-federal special interest groups. Coordinates the operation with due consideration for weather, needs of other employees or groups, and legal requirements. Plans work according to available equipment, materials, and personnel. Schedules and supervises the seasonal workers and partner work leaders. Prepares and submits compliance in a timely manner to ensure obligation of funds and completion of projects performed by both day-labor crews and by contract. Ability to supervise the work of crewmembers in the maintenance, repair, rehabilitation, construction, and stabilization of park trails, roads, and elated public use facilities.(SCREEN OUT) Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, repairs, etc. Ability to interpret Instructions, specifications, etc.( includes blueprinting reading) Ability to operate and maintain tools and equipment and perform heavy physical work/exertion required in hiking, bending and lifting. Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment. Knowledge of materials. Ability to inspect and work safely in a back country and front country environment. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
